Weddings!

Lots of gorgeous brides and handsome grooms as usual, including my second shooter, David, and his lovely new wife Cristiana.



It's funny to see someone who you are used to shooting weddings with actually in a wedding. Christiana had one of the longest, most beautiful veils that I've ever seen. However, her attendants, both male, had a little trouble figuring out how to place it behind her once she stopped moving. I think they did a great job, don't you?

Shaleea, Chuks and now Boston!

One of the things I look forward to when I finish shooting a couples weddings, is the opportunity to shoot them and their children in the future. Chuks and Shaleea, the couple whose pictures appear at the link if you click on the title, are the proud new parents of an absolutely precious son, Boston.

I loved shooting this cute new family. We had a terrific day, the location was great, and Boston was so sweet! Isn't he adorable?

Work... Recent to Old

Ok, enough play, onto the real work!

During December, I had the opportunity to photograph the Four Generations of Hartfords in South Boston. There are a ton of pictures that I love, but thought these two captured the spirit pretty well!

Winston

Shortly after my last post, way back in spring 2007, Winston, the bulldog formerly known as Huskie, moved back in with me.

He's kind of huskie, super cute, and spoiled rotten. And honestly, I can't see any reason for it to be any other way, can you?

Music Festivals

Music festivals?

Yup, great opportunities to photograph really interesting emerging bands (check out zydepunks pictured above), established musicians, and a collection of other interesting goodies.

The most recent outing was Voodoo Fest. Voodoo fest X was held in a park in New Orleans in late-October. The weather was perfect, the music incredible. And I got to see Wyclef Jean who was incredible (see pix above). All the musicians were excited about the upcoming election and the crowds were equally excited. Lots of support for Obama!

Lomography II

Ahh, huh, what else?

Well in addition to the multi-shooting lomo, I have a fish eye camera that is also cheap, plastic and fun to use...

Both cameras have been on quite a few trips in the last few years usually combining a few of my favorite things to do:
1) travel
2) hear music
3) take pixs

And to do all three, I've been going to interesting music festivals including Austin City Limits, New Orleans Jazzfest, and most recently, Voodoo Fest also in New Orleans. These big music festivals are a great opportunity to check out a lot of music without a lot of commitment. More on that in the next post...

Yikes

Ok, it's been almost two years since I've posted. I've thought about it many times, but have been too busy to post. Mea culpae!

I have posted lots of stuff online to my lomography lab, http://www.lomography.com/lab/, search for ackcoatue...

The lomography society is a community of artists who use cheap cameras, usually plastic film cameras. If you've ever seen me with a yellow square that makes a crazy kind of ticking noise, then you've seen one of my my cheap plastic cameras.

They create images like the one below. And the draw, at least for me, is that you can take them anywhere and you get a lots of interesting results. When you shoot digital and you have an endless amount of control in post-production, the appeal of something that exists on film just the way you shot it is kind of great.

Is that it you wonder? Nope, not even close... More to come!
